Terms of Service

Effective October 21, 2026

These terms apply to all DJ and entertainment services provided by Category 5 Productions (“Company,” “we”) to the person or organization booking the event (“Client”). By booking and paying a deposit or any payment, the Client agrees to them. A signed or online booking agreement for your event may add details; if they conflict, the booking agreement controls.

1. Booking and deposit

A date is reserved only once the booking is confirmed and the required deposit is paid. We accept one event per date. The deposit is applied toward the total price.

2. Payment

The full balance is due before the event, by the due date stated in your booking confirmation. We may decline to perform if payment has not been received in full. Payments are accepted through the methods offered in our booking system.

3. Services included

The quoted price includes setup and teardown, the professional DJ/MC, and the sound equipment and services listed in your package. Services not listed in your package are not included unless added in writing.

4. Overtime

Time beyond the booked length is charged per half hour at the overtime rate in your package or booking confirmation, and is subject to our availability and the venue’s rules. Overtime is payable at the end of the event unless otherwise arranged.

5. Venue, power, and access

  • The Client must provide safe, reliable, dedicated electrical power (standard grounded outlets) within reach of the DJ setup, for the sound system and lighting.
  • The Client confirms the venue permits amplified sound and has told us of any noise limits, curfews, or load-in restrictions.
  • The Client must provide safe, timely access to the venue for setup and teardown, and a covered, secure area for equipment if the event is outdoors.
  • Parking and load-in costs, if any, are the Client’s responsibility.

6. Cancellation and rescheduling

Cancellations made 30 or more days before the event forfeit the deposit only. Cancellations made less than 30 days before the event forfeit the deposit and are responsible for the remaining balance, because the date can no longer be rebooked. If the Company cancels, all payments are refunded in full. Reschedules are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.

7. Event timeline and music

The Client should provide a timeline and music preferences, including must-play and do-not-play lists, at least 14 days before the event. We will use professional judgment to read the crowd and keep the event on track. Requests made during the event are accommodated at the DJ’s discretion.

8. Client conduct and safety

The Client is responsible for the conduct of guests. Equipment must not be touched or moved by anyone other than our staff. We may pause or end service without refund if guests are abusive, equipment is at risk, or conditions are unsafe.

9. Equipment damage

The Client is responsible for loss of or damage to our equipment caused by the Client, guests, or venue conditions, other than normal wear.

10. Weather and unforeseen events

For outdoor events, the Client must provide shelter for equipment. If severe weather, power failure, venue closure, or other events beyond our control make the event impossible, we will work with the Client to reschedule. Where we cannot reschedule, we will refund payments for services not rendered.

11. Illness, emergency, and substitution

If the booked DJ cannot perform because of illness, emergency, or other unforeseen cause, we will make reasonable efforts to provide a qualified replacement from our team. If we cannot, all payments are refunded.

12. Recording and promotion

We may take photos or video at the event for portfolio and promotional use. Tell us in writing before the event if you do not want this.

13. Limitation of liability

Our liability for any claim related to our services is limited to the amount paid to us for the event. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. We are not responsible for injuries or losses caused by guests or by the venue.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Harris County, Texas.

15. Changes

We may update these terms. The terms in effect when you book apply to your event.
